1. Good adhesion of coating film 

During normal vacuum coating process, the evaporated particles are evaporated to the workpiece surface with only about one electron volt energy which the formed interface diffusion depth is usually only a few hundred e (10000 e =1 micron =0.0001 cm)between the workpiece surface and the coating film. That's less than one percent of a hair. The transition layer between the two can be said to be almost unconnected, as if distinctly separate. When in ion plating, the evaporated particles have three to five thousand electron volts of kinetic energy after ionization. If ordinary vacuum-coated particles are equivalent to a panting long-distance runner, then ion-coated particles are like passengers on a high-speed rocket, when they bombard the workpiece at high speed, not only deposition speed, but also can penetrate the surface of the workpiece, forming a deep diffusion layer into the substrate, the interface diffusion depth of the ion plating can reach four to five microns, that is, tens or even hundreds of times deeper than the diffusion depth of the ordinary vacuum coating, and therefore adhere to each other particularly firmly. The tensile test of the sample which after ion plating shows that the coating film plastic extends with the matrix metal until it is about to break then without skin or peeling occurs . How strong the adhesion is!

2. Strong plating capability

When the ion coating, the evaporated particles are moving along the power line in the electric field in the form of charged ions, so any part with electric field can obtain a good coating, which is much superior to the ordinary vacuum coating only in the direct direction. Therefore, this method is very suitable for the inner hole, groove and narrow seam on the coated parts.  Ordinary vacuum coating can only be coating directly on the surface, the evaporated particles just like climbing ladders which can only go up the ladder; while ion coating can be evenly coated into the back and inner holes of the parts which charged ions are like boarding a helicopter that can fly anywhere within its radius of movement along the prescribed route.

3. Good coating quality 

Ion coating with dense structure, no pinhole, no bubble and uniform thickness. Even the edges and grooves can be evenly coated and not to form a metal tumor. Parts such as threads can also be coated, because this process can also repair the surface of the workpiece of small cracks and pockmarks and other defects, so it can effectively improve the surface quality and physical mechanical properties of the coated parts. The fatigue test shows that the fatigue life of the workpiece can be 20% or 30% improved if properly operated.
